Preview Roundups
March 18, 2018
Detroit at Colorado 3:00 PM ET
After having their point and winning streaks halted by the league's best club, the Colorado Avalanche look to rebound against one of its worst when they host the bedraggled Detroit Red Wings on Sunday afternoon. Colorado is holding the top wild-card spot in the Western Conference by a razor-thin margin with 11 games to go in the regular season.
Calgary at Vegas 4:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights easily are the top story of the NHL, charging to the top of the Pacific Division and being well on their way to a postseason berth in their inaugural season. However, the aura of invincibility at home that has defined the Golden Knights has taken a hit heading into Sunday's game against the visiting Calgary Flames.
Edmonton at Tampa Bay 5:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning are suddenly in a race for the Atlantic Division title after dominating much of the season, and badly need a victory when they host the loose Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. The Lightning dropped a 3-0 decision to second place Boston on Saturday for their second straight loss and lead the surging Bruins by only two points, with one more game played, as the regular season winds down.
Carolina at NY Islanders 5:00 PM ET
Two teams that have played themselves out of postseason contention in the Eastern Conference face off Sunday as the New York Islanders host the Carolina Hurricanes. New York sits 12 points out of the second wild-card spot after winning only one of its last 11 games (1-6-4), while Carolina is 11 back thanks to a stretch during which it has lost five of six.
Washington at Philadelphia 5:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals sit atop the Metropolitan Division thanks to a four-game winning streak and hope to keep it going when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday. Washington finds itself two points ahead of Pittsburgh after scoring 13 goals during a home-and-home sweep of the New York Islanders.
St. Louis at Chicago 7:30 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues are hanging around in the race for a playoff spot, but could be without their leading goal scorer when they visit the rival Chicago Blackhawks for a key contest Sunday night. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko (27 goals) left Saturday’s 4-3 overtime victory over the New York Rangers in the first period with an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated before Sunday’s contest.
Dallas at Winnipeg 7:30 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets sit comfortably in second place in the Central Division, 10 points out of the lead with 11 games remaining, so the focus now is on getting key elements of the lineup healthy and back on the ice starting Sunday at home against the Dallas Stars. The Jets are hopeful centers Mark Scheifele and Adam Lowry can play as well as defenseman Toby Enstrom, three days after defenseman Jacob Trouba returned and earned two assists in a 6-2 win over Chicago.
New Jersey at Anaheim 9:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils are jockeying for position in the Eastern Conference playoff race while the Anaheim Ducks are fighting for their postseason lives in the West. New Jersey attempts to improve its standing and remain perfect on its six-game road trip when it visits Anaheim on Sunday.
