Preview Roundups
July 02, 2018
Detroit at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers applied the brakes on an epic slide that saw them lose each of the last 11 contests in June. The Tigers (37-48) look to pick up speed by collecting their second straight win of the new month and salvaging a split of their four-game series against the host Toronto Blue Jays (39-44) on Monday afternoon.
Atlanta at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves have gotten off to a great start on their 10-game road trip and hope to continue their success as they begin a three-game interleague series between a pair of division leaders when they visit the New York Yankees on Monday. Atlanta began its trek with a three-game sweep in St. Louis, outscoring the Cardinals 22-10 to remain three games in front of Philadelphia in the National League East.
Boston at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox meet the Washington Nationals on Monday to start a three-game series in the nation's capital and will face arguably the top Cy Young Award contender for the second straight game. Max Scherzer, the two-time reigning National League Cy Young winner, takes the ball for Washington after Boston lost to Luis Severino and the New York Yankees 11-1 on Sunday night.
Chi. White Sox at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Interleague play is sweeping Major League Baseball early this week, but some of the matchups are not of the marquee variety. The Chicago White Sox will play one such game when they visit the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game set on Monday.
Tampa Bay at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays completed an impressive 8-1 homestand against some of the top teams in the majors over the weekend and look to carry over the momentum on the road when they begin a three-game interleague series against the Miami Marlins on Monday night. The Rays swept five games combined from the New York Yankees and Washington before taking three of four versus defending World Series champion Houston, capped by Sunday's 3-2 triumph.
Minnesota at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers didn't receive any help in the standings from the Minnesota Twins after the latter surrendered 35 runs en route to dropping a three-game series to the Chicago Cubs. The National League Central-leading Brewers (48-35), who are clinging to a half-game advantage over the Cubs, bid to vent their frustration Monday in the opener of a three-game interleague set against the visiting Twins (35-45).
Cleveland at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians are running away with the American League Central and just began swinging the bats well. The Indians will try to stay hot at the plate when they visit the Kansas City Royals in the opener of a three-game series on Monday.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants have been one of - if not the worst - road team in the National League for a large part of the season, but their most recent series may be a sign they have turned the corner in that regard. The Giants hope to improve to 9-2 during their 13-game stretch against NL West rivals and post a fifth straight victory away from home when they begin a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
St. Louis at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The National League West is becoming a four-team race, with the Arizona Diamondbacks leading the pack but struggling to pull away. The Diamondbacks will try to bounce back at the expense of another struggling team when they host the St. Louis Cardinals in the opener of a three-game series on Monday.
Pittsburgh at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Matt Kemp has produced more than a few memorable performances in what has been a spectacular bounce-back season so far - something the Pittsburgh Pirates experienced first-hand early last month. The 33-year-old will continue to make a bid for his first All-Star appearance since 2012 on Monday, when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the opener of a three-game series against the Pirates.
