Sharks 4, Canadiens 0: Tommy Wingels registered his second career two-goal performance and Antti Niemi posted his 26th career shutout as host San Jose extended its point streak to four games (3-0-1).

Logan Couture recorded a goal and two assists while rookie Matt Nieto added one of each for the Sharks, who improved to 2-0-1 on their four-game homestand. Niemi turned aside 27 shots en route to his third blanking of the season and became the first goaltender to shut out Montreal twice in a campaign since Buffalo's Martin Biron in 2001-02.

Peter Budaj allowed two goals on 11 shots before being pulled by the Canadiens, who concluded a 1-3-0 road trip. Dustin Tokarski entered early in the second period and finished with 20 saves.

San Jose gave Niemi all the offensive support he needed 2:26 into the contest as Wingels poked in a loose puck in the crease while short-handed as Budaj lost sight of it after making a save on Couture's shot from center ice. Wingels doubled the lead - and ended Budaj's evening - by tipping in defenseman Matt Irwin's blast from above the left faceoff circle 1:54 into the middle session.

Nieto made it 3-0 at 7:43, beating Tokarski from the slot after receiving a pass by Patrick Marleau from the bottom of the left circle. He made a nice setup pass of his own from nearly the same spot 43 seconds into the third, feeding Couture on the doorstep for his 18th tally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wingels also scored twice on Nov. 21 against Tampa Bay. ... San Jose extended its home point streak to five games (4-0-1). ... Canadiens D P.K. Subban had his four-game point streak come to an end. ... The Sharks outscored Montreal 6-0 in sweeping the two-game season series.
