Jaeden Zackery scored 16 points and CJ Penha finished with 15 to help Boston College end a four-game losing streak by beating visiting Stonehill 63-56 Tuesday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Zackery made three of his six 3-point attempts. Penha was two of five from beyond the arc. BC's T.J. Bickerstaff had seven points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
The victory raised BC's all-time record against Stonehill to 16-0.
Stonehill's Andrew Sims, a 6-foot-6 forward, tossed in 20 points and had five rebounds to lead the Skyhawks, a first-year Division I program. Sims has scored in double figures in his last 17 games, including all 11 games this season.
Max Zegarowski finished with 12 points and was the only other Stonehill player who scored in double figures. Zegarowski made three 3-pointers.
BC (6-6) led by 16 points in the first half and had a nine-point advantage at the break, but Stonehill (4-8) made it a 54-50 game following a Zegarowski 3-pointer with 5:29 to play. The Skyhawks were within three points at 59-56 when Sims made a 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining, but Stonehill failed to score again.
BC point guard Makai Ashton-Langford returned after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. Ashton-Langford, a graduate student, came off the bench to score seven points in 20 minutes. He received a technical with 7:31 to play and BC leading 53-46.
Ashton-Langford entered the contest as BC's leading scorer (11.0 ppg).
BC led 35-26 at halftime. The Eagles trailed 16-14 but went on an 18-0 run to take a 32-16 lead with 3:26 remaining in the first half. Penha scored 10 of BC's 18 points during the run.
Stonehill began the night leading the Northeast Conference in field goal percentage but missed 27 of its 37 field goal attempts in the first half (27.0 percent). The Skyhawks were 21 of 58 from the field in the game (36.2 percent).
