Liam Robbins led five Minnesota scorers in double figures with 27 points to lift the No. 21 Golden Gophers to a 77-60 win over No. 25 Ohio State on Sunday in Minneapolis.
Robbins, a transfer from Drake, also had 14 rebounds, five blocks and four assists for the Gophers (10-2, 3-2 Big Ten).
Minnesota's Marcus Carr had 10 of his 15 points in the second half. He scored five straight points to increase the lead to 67-50 with nine minutes left.
The Gophers also got 13 points from Gabe Kalscheur while Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Both Gach each had 10.
Duane Washington Jr. made 7 of 12 shots, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, to lead the Buckeyes (8-3, 2-3) with 21 points. E.J. Liddell added 10 points in a losing effort.
Minnesota led 43-37 at the half and improved to 10-0 at Williams Arena this season.
The Gophers managed their halftime advantage despite a modest contribution from Carr, who entered fourth nationally with 22.7 points per game -- even though he was held to 10 in a loss at Wisconsin on Thursday.
Carr had five points in the first half versus the Buckeyes with three coming from the free throw line. The first two were after a technical on the Ohio State bench.
His first field goal attempt came with 7:22 left, and his only bucket in four tries was a jumper with 46 seconds remaining.
Fortunately for the Gophers, Robbins popped in 16 points from 5-of-7 shooting, grabbed five rebounds and blocked four shots.
Ohio State's lone lead of the game was 28-27 with six minutes left in the first half. Liddell, the team's leading scorer with a 14.4 average, made 1 of 6 shots and had four points in the opening 20 minutes.
Minnesota plays at No. 16 Michigan on Wednesday while the Buckeyes host Penn State. The Nittany Lions' home game versus Wisconsin on Sunday was postponed, reportedly because of two positive COVID-19 tests among the Penn State players.
