Jawanza Poland scored 15 points as the host Bulls came back from an 11-point second-half deficit to edge the Hoyas for their first Big East victory.

After Georgetown cut a seven-point South Florida lead to one in the closing minutes, Anthony Collins went 2-for-2 at the line to push the cushion to three with six seconds left. Otto Porter Jr. missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with two seconds left.

Collins finished with 14 points, making all six of his free throws. Freshman Javontae Hawkins chipped in 12 for the Bulls (10-7, 1-4 Big East), who turned the ball over just four times. Porter led Georgetown (12-4, 2-3) with a game-high 21 points while D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera had 16.

After shooting 1-for-14 from 3-point range in the first half, South Florida made five of its first six in the second half to turn a 31-23 deficit at intermission into a 50-43 lead with 9:24 remaining.

Porter scored six points to pull the Hoyas within 55-54 with 5:26 left. Smith-Rivera scored four straight to make it a one-point game again 3:03 later before Collins finished the scoring in the waning seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: South Florida shot 81.3 percent (13-for-16) from the foul line. ... Georgetown had won three in a row against the Bulls. ... South Florida leading scorer Victor Rudd managed seven points on 2-of-5 shooting.
