No. 3 Arizona 60, Utah 57: Solomon Hill posted 19 points and six rebounds and the host Wildcats survived their second close call in as many games to remain one of four undefeated teams in Division I.

Mark Lyons overcame a miserable shooting performance to drain two key late free throws for Arizona (14-0, 2-0 Pac-12), which is two games shy of matching its best start in school history.

Jason Washburn posted his second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while freshman Jordan Loveridge added 17 points for Utah (8-6, 0-2), which has lost 12 straight Pac-12 games on the road.

Arizona never trailed, but struggled mightily against an opponent that has managed one win in a true road game over the last two seasons. The Wildcats took a four-point lead following a layup from Kevin Parrom, but watched Cedric Martin cut the Utes’ deficit to 58-57 on a 3-pointer with 1:07 remaining.

Neither team could manage a score until Lyons was fouled after collecting a rebound with seven seconds left. Lyons calmly sank both free throws and, following a timeout, Jarred DuBois’ 3-point attempt hit off the rim twice and the top of the backboard once as time expired.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona was only two days removed from Thursday’s dramatic overtime victory against Colorado in which the Buffaloes’ last-second 3-pointer in regulation was waved off by officials. Two of the Wildcats’ last three wins – and four of their last seven – have come in the final seconds or overtime. … Utah has not won a conference game away from home since Feb. 19, 2011. … Four of the Utes’ six losses this season are by three points or less.
