Alabama 75, Lamar 47: Rodney Cooper scored a game-high 17 points off the bench and the host Crimson Tide shook off the pesky Cardinals with an 18-2 second-half run.
Alabama (6-0) trailed at times in the opening 10 minutes of the first half and held a slender 25-23 lead with 5:47 remaining before halftime. But the Crimson Tide led 36-27 at intermission, then limited Lamar (1-6) to two points during a nine-minute stretch of the second half to open a 59-33 advantage.
Stan Brown scored 14 points to lead the Cardinals, who shot just 37.5 percent from the field.
Retin Obasohan scored 13 points and Levi Randolph and Dakota Slaughter added 10 points each for Alabama, which shot 18 free throws to Lamar’s seven.
The Crimson Tide forced 17 turnovers and outrebounded Lamar 40-25. Alabama made just 10 of 18 free-throw attempts (55.6 percent).
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lamar coach Pat Knight, son of Hall of Famer Bob Knight, was ejected early in the second half. ... Brown finished with nine rebounds and three steals. … Alabama travels to No. 16 Cincinnati on Saturday.
