Notre Dame 69, St. Francis (Pa.) 52: Jack Cooley recorded his fourth double-double in six games this season as the host Fighting Irish blew out the Red Flash to improve to 12-0 in the all-time series.
Cooley tallied 13 points and 13 rebounds while Eric Atkins added 13 points and six assists. Cameron Biedscheid was 4-of-6 from 3-point range for another 13 points as Notre Dame (5-1) outrebounded St. Francis (0-5) 37-19 and assisted on 19 of 28 baskets.
Biedscheid made back-to-back 3-pointers as the Fighting Irish ran out to a 13-4 advantage just 5:12 into the game. Jerian Grant and Atkins hit jumpers in the last four seconds of the first half to push Notre Dame’s cushion to 35-23 at the break.
Grant and Pat Connaughton both connected on 3-pointers to highlight a 12-1 run midway through the second half as the Fighting Irish extended their lead to 64-40 lead with 5:46 left.
Umar Shannon led the Red Flash with a game-high 14 points. St. Francis converted 9 of 18 3-pointers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Grant finished with 11 points and a team-high nine assists and Garrick Sherman chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds. … The Fighting Irish shot just 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from the foul line. … Ollie Jackson added 12 points for St. Francis, which recorded just three offensive rebounds.
