Carlon Brown scored a game-high 18 points as host Colorado tuned up for its Pac-12 debut this weekend with an easy 92-34 victory over Division II New Orleans on Wednesday.
The Buffaloes and Brown, who transferred to Colorado after playing his first three years at Utah, will meet the Utes on Saturday in the first Pac-12 basketball game for both schools who joined the conference July 1.
Brown surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career as Colorado (8-4) led from start to finish. Brown has 1,010 points.
Andre Roberson notched his eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds to power the Buffaloes inside attack, while Austin Dufault chipped in 14.
Freshmen guards Askia Booker and Spencer Dinwiddie added 13 and 12 points, respectively, as Colorado shot 55.2 percent from the field (32-for-58), 88.5 from the foul line (23-of-26) while recording a season-high in points scored.
New Orleans (9-6), less than two years removed from being a Sun Belt Conference member, lost 78-47 at North Texas on Tuesday and have lost all six games against Division I teams this season.
Rarlensee Nelson and Generra Varmall led New Orleans with seven points apiece.
