NORTH CAROLINA STATE 77, MIAMI 73: C.J. Leslie scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the host Wolfpack ended a four-game losing streak.
Scott Wood, who had 15 points, drained a 3-pointer with 1:10 to give N.C. State (19-11, 8-7 ACC) a 72-69 lead and Miami could never tie it.
Durand Scott, who had 10 points and 11 rebounds, missed a driving layup that could have put Miami (17-11, 8-7) ahead with 17 seconds left. Leslie hauled in a rebound after Richard Howell (14 points) missed two free throws a few seconds later. Lorenzo Brown (16 points) followed with two free throws for a 76-73 lead.
Rion Brown matched his season high with 15 points and Malcolm Grant had 14 for Miami, which dropped both games to the Wolfpack this season.
Leslie had 13 points as N.C. State led by as many as seven in the opening 20 minutes before Miami put together a late 7-0 run and took a 36-34 halftime lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami center Reggie Johnson was reinstated by the NCAA late Tuesday. He missed one game after being declared ineligible Sunday by Miami because of an investigation into a benefits issue. … The Hurricanes had only two assists on 15 field goals in the first half, while N.C. State had 11 on 13. … The Wolfpack have beaten Miami five of the last six meetings.
