Freshman Dennis Clifford scored 15 points, including a pair of go-ahead baskets down the stretch, and Boston College pulled out a back-and-forth 59-57 Atlantic Coast Conference home win over Clemson.

The Tigers (9-7, 1-1 ACC) had a chance to tie when Devin Booker was fouled with one second left, but Booker missed the first free throw and Clemson was called for a lane violation when Booker attempted to intentionally miss the second foul shot.

The Eagles (6-10, 1-1 ACC) held Clemson without a field goal for the final 5:55 and held the Tigers to 38.5 percent (20-of-52) from the field.

The lead changed hands four times in the final nine minutes, but the Tigers never led after Clifford's dunk made it 56-54 with 2:59 left.

Clifford scored seven of Boston College's last 11 points to get within one point of his career high set Dec. 21 against Sacred Heart. He has scored in double figures in five of the past six games after doing so only four times in the first 10 games. Clifford also had a team-high seven rebounds.

Freshman Lonnie Jackson scored 14 points for Boston College, which won for just the second time in the past eight meetings.

The Tigers dropped to 10-49 in ACC road openers.
