Keith Wright had a season-high 18 points and Laurent Rivard added 14 as No. 25 Harvard used a late run to defeat Monmouth 70-61 Tuesday at the Multipurpose Activity Center.
Wright finished 8-of-10 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Crimson (14-2, 1-0 Ivy), who led 34-27 at halftime.
Trailing by 12 points early in the second half, Monmouth (3-14, 1-3 NEC) used a 14-2 run — capped off by Marcus Ware’s jumper — to even the score at 48 with 12:55 remaining.
But the Crimson regained the lead soon after, and then stretched it to double figures en route to their sixth win in seven games.
Jesse Steele had a team-high 13 points for the Hawks, who shot 41 percent from the field and missed all five of their first-half 3-point attempts. Ware added 12 points and six rebounds.
Monmouth fell to 0-3 against ranked teams, with its two other losses coming against then-No. 22 Vanderbilt and then-No. 6 North Carolina.
Harvard, which outrebounded the Hawks 30-23, has one non-conference game left — at home against George Washington — before it resumes Ivy league play against Dartmouth on Jan 21.
Rivard, a sophomore guard, made all four of the Crimson’s 3-pointers.
