Isaiah Canaan scored 27 of his 35 points in the first half - including Murray State's first 16 - as the No. 18 Racers remained unbeaten with a 87-75 victory over host Austin Peay on Saturday.
Murray State (16-0, 4-0 Ohio Valley Conference) has equaled the best start in school history, matching the 1935-36 team, and are one of only three undefeated teams in the nation (No. 1 Syracuse and No. 5 Baylor).
Canaan was 10-for-15 from the field and connected on a career-high seven 3-pointers on eight attempts as Murray State raced to a 14-point first half lead and never looked back.
After leading 45-40 at halftime, the Racers extended the advantage to 12 in the second half before Austin Peay (3-13, 0-3) battled back and cut the lead to three several times, the last being at 72-69 on a jumper by Josh Terry with 5:58 remaining.
Ed Daniel added a season-high 19 points, a game-high 11 rebounds and three blocks for Murray State, while Donte Poole chipped in 13 and Jewuan Long scored 11.
The Racers shot 54.5 percent from the field and 55.6 from 3-point range, hitting 10-of-18.
Terry led the Governors with 16 points and Melvin Baker added 14.
