Kim English had 23 points and eight rebounds, and No. 6 Missouri rolled in its Big 12 opener to an 87-49 victory over visiting Oklahoma on Tuesday night.
Marcus Denmon added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (14-0, 1-0 Big 12), who never trailed and led by double digits for the last 25 minutes.
Missouri came out smoking hot, shooting 61 percent from the field to take a 43-25 halftime advantage. Denmon and English combined for 23 first-half points, including 12 in a row at one point that stretched the Tigers’ early margin to 37-21 on Denmon’s dunk with four minutes left before the break.
The Tigers, who are one of four remaining unbeaten teams, continued their best start since the 1981-82 season.
Andrew Fitzgerald had 18 points to lead the Sooners (10-3, 0-1 Big 12), who have lost six straight meetings with Missouri in Columbia. Steven Pledger, who entered the game as Oklahoma’s leading scorer with 18.8 points, finished with 11 on 3-of-10 field goals.
The Sooners received only two points off the bench, while Mizzou reserve Michael Dixon had 13 points and four assists on his own.
Missouri opened the second half on a 25-11 run and took a 68-36 lead when Dixon found English for a layup with 12:16 remaining.
