Laurent Rivard came off the bench and had a game-high 18 points as No. 23 Harvard defeated host Boston College 67-46 on Thursday.
The Crimson (11-1) missed their first eight shots and trailed by nine midway through the first half before battling back behind Rivard’s 15 first-half points to take a 40-33 lead into halftime.
Corbin Miller finished with 12 points and Brandyn Curry added 11 for the Crimson, who entered with their highest ranking in program history and improved to 3-1 against major-conference teams this season.
Boston College, which shot 63 percent, including 75 percent from 3-point range in the first half, had its three-game winning streak snapped.
Patrick Heckmann, the Eagles’ leading scorer, had 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting and Dennis Clifford finished with a team-high 14 points.
Harvard opened up the game late in the second half and extended its lead to 64-43 on a pair of Curry free throws with 4:57 left to play.
Boston College, which has one game left before conference play begins on Jan. 7 at North Carolina, was outrebounded 35-20 and was limited to only 13 second-half points.
