C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown each scored 16 points and North Carolina State to a rolled to an 88-59 victory over visiting Northeastern on Thursday.
Richard Howell had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolfpack (8-4), which was in complete control from the start two nights after Leslie’s last-second layup gave it a thrilling 67-65 road win over St. Bonaventure.
North Carolina State shot 52 percent (33 of 63), including 11 of 20 from beyond the arc.
Joel Smith scored 15 points and Jonathan Lee added 14 for Northeastern (3-7), which has lost six straight. The road weary Huskies lost fell to 0-2 on a four-game road trip. Northeastern has played just three home games thus far.
The first meeting since 1984 was also the third game in five days for both teams. North Carolina State showed no signs of fatigue, though. The Wolfpack opened the game on a 16-5 run and led by double digits the entire way. The Wolfpack hit eight of its first 13 shots en route to a 38-25 halftime lead and put the game away with a 10-5 run at the start of the second half.
