Erick Green scored 12 points to lead Virginia Tech to a 71-50 one-sided win Thursday over Eastern Michigan at Cassell Coliseum.
Virginia Tech (10-3) extended its winning streak to five games while Eastern Michigan (5-7) dropped its sixth loss in the past seven games.
Virginia Tech’s frenetic pace was too much for the road-torn Eagles, who were playing their sixth straight road game. The Hokies constantly beat the Eastern Michigan down the floor for uncontested buckets.
Ten Hokies scored, including reserves Robert Brown and Cadarian Raines, who combined for 19 points off the bench.
Virginia Tech grabbed control with a 16-0 run to end the first half, holding Eastern Michigan without a point for final 11:22 of the period to lead 27-9 at the break. The Eagles shot just 3 for 21 in the first half.
Antonio Green and Austin Harper each scored 13 points for Eastern Michigan.
Green started in place of J.R. Sims, who sat out with a wrist injury.
The Hokies have led at the half in every game this season.
