Junior Rob Chubb matched his career high with 21 points as Auburn pulled away in the second half for a 76-69 victory over visiting Florida A&M on Monday to give coach Tony Barbee his 100th career victory.
The game was tight until midway in the second half, when Florida A&M drew to within 52-48 on a 3-pointer by Avery Moore with 8:44 remaining.
Auburn, though, responded with a 14-2 run to put the game away, with eight of those points coming from Chubb, who made 9-for-10 from the line and added four rebounds.
Auburn (7-1) also got 16 points and nine rebounds from Frankie Sullivan and 12 points from Chris Denson. Kenny Gabriel equaled a career best with 13 rebounds.
Florida A&M (2-10), which has lost three straight, was led by Moore with 24 points and Yannick Crowder, who had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The win helped Auburn extend its best start in eight seasons and was the club’s third straight victory since losing to Seton Hall in the Big East/SEC Challenge.
