Tu Holloway hit three straight 3-pointers to cap a furious finish and scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as No. 11 Xavier overcame a 19-point deficit to edge visiting Purdue 66-63 on Saturday.
The Musketeers (6-0) were in a 55-36 hole midway through the second half and still trailed by 16 with eight minutes to go before getting hot, hitting five consecutive 3-pointers and seven of their final eight shots during a 23-4 run. Holloway's final shot from outside broke a 61-61 deadlock with 40 seconds remaining, putting Xavier in front to stay.
The Boilermakers (7-2) had dominated early, hitting eight of their first 13 shots and forcing 11 turnovers in the first 11 minutes of play to build a 22-6 cushion. Lewis Jackson scored eight of his 12 points during the opening flurry.
Mark Lyons added 14 points for the Musketeers, who shot 54 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Boilermakers, 39-28. Xavier had 22 giveaways on the day, but just four of those came after halftime.
