Jeffery Taylor led five players in double figures with 20 points and No. 18 Vanderbilt rode a dominating second half to a 90-69 road win over LSU on Saturday.
Lance Goulbourne had 16 points and 17 rebounds and John Jenkins added 17 points for the Commodores (21-7, 9-5 SEC), who bounced back after having their five-game winning streak snapped and avoided a potentially damaging loss to an inferior team.
Vanderbilt is locked in a three-way battle for the No. 2 seed in the upcoming SEC tournament and the accompanying first-round bye.
The Commodores, who trailed by two at halftime, prevailed despite an unexpected career day from LSU’s Storm Warren. The junior forward, who entered averaging 6.4 points, scored 24 on 12-of-20 shooting.
Vanderbilt pulled away early in the second half with a 15-2 run and then outscored the Tigers (11-18, 3-11) 31-13 over the final 9 ½ minutes.
Warren scored 18 points in the first half and LSU, which ended a 10-game losing streak with a win over Mississippi State on Wednesday, led 43-41 after 20 minutes.
