Ke'Bryan Hayes and Josh Palacios homered during a six-run seventh Friday as the Pittsburgh Pirates came back from a five-run deficit to down the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 7-5.

Hayes also hit an RBI single and Carlos Santana added a two-run double for the Pirates, who have won three straight.

Pittsburgh starter Roansy Contreras allowed five runs and seven hits in four innings, with six strikeouts and no walks.

Yohan Ramirez (1-0) got the final out of the seventh.

David Bednar pitched the ninth for his 11th save.

Brendan Donovan and Nolan Arenado each hit a two-run homer, and Nolan Gorman hit an RBI single for the Cardinals, who have lost four of six.

St. Louis starter Jack Flaherty allowed one run and six hits in 5 1/3 innings, with six strikeouts and one walk.

Giovanny Gallegos (1-3) gave up four runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Contreras struck out the side in order in the first and retired seven of the first eight, but with two outs in the third, Tommy Edman doubled to left. Donovan hit his sixth homer, to right, for a 2-0 St. Louis lead. Paul Goldschmidt doubled to center, the 400th two-bagger of his career.

Gorman drove in Goldschmidt with a base hit to center. Arenado made it 5-0 with his 10th homer, to right-center. The five-run inning came after the Cardinals had not scored more than three runs in seven straight games.

Pittsburgh got to Flaherty in the sixth. Jack Suwinski walked. Santana singled to right but was out on Ji Hwan Bae's fielder's choice, with Suwinski going to third. Hayes singled to center to bring Suwinski home to cut it to 5-1.

In the seventh against Andre Pallante, Tucupita Marcano doubled to left. An out later, Andrew McCutchen walked. One ball into Suwinski's at-bat, Gallegos relieved and finished the walk. Santana doubled to left to drive in Marcano and McCutchen to cut it to 5-3. An out later, Hayes hit his third homer, to left, for a 6-5 Pirates lead. Palacios followed with his first career homer, to right.
