Bo Bichette homered, Santiago Espinal hit a two-run double and right-hander Alek Manoah pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings Friday as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays topped the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0.

Manoah (13-7), who pitched for nearby West Virginia University, allowed five hits, with six strikeouts and one walk. He combined with Tim Mayza and Adam Cimber for a five-hit shutout.

The Blue Jays have won 10 of 15.

The Pirates have lost two straight and 16 of 20.

Pittsburgh starter Johan Oviedo pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walking three, with four strikeouts. Oviedo, who was acquired from St. Louis in July, made his Pirates debut.

Tyler Beede (1-5) stepped in and gave up two runs and five hits in three innings, with one strikeout and one walk.

Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes left after the fifth because of left shoulder discomfort.

The Blue Jays loaded the bases with two outs in the third on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s single to left, Teoscar Hernandez's single to left and Alejandro Kirk's walk, but Oviedo got Bichette to fly out.

Against Beede in the fourth, Matt Chapman led off with a double to left. Cavan Biggio reached on an infield single, sending Chapman to third. They both scored on Espinal's double to left for a 2-0 Blue Jays lead.

Manoah retired 12 straight batters until Jack Suwinski singled to center with one out in the seventh. An out later, Cal Mitchell's single to right-center sent Suwinski to third. But Manoah escaped trouble when Michael Chavis was out on a close play at first on a grounder to third.

In the eighth against Chase De Jong, Toronto loaded the bases. Bichette doubled to left, Chapman walked and, a flyout later, Espinal walked. De Jong struck out Jackie Bradley Jr. and got George Springer to fly out.

With two outs in the ninth against Yohan Ramirez, Kirk walked and gave way to pinch-runner Whit Merrifield. Bichette followed with his 18th homer, to left, to make it 4-0.
