Jorge Lopez allowed one run and one hit in six innings and the Baltimore Orioles hit four solo homers off Andrew Heaney in a 7-1 victory over the host New York Yankees on Monday night.

The game featured a brief delay when a cat raced onto the field in the eighth inning.

Lopez (3-12) ended a nine-start winless streak and recorded his first victory since June 6 against the Cleveland Indians. He entered Monday 0-6 with a 7.43 ERA since that win.

Lopez, who walked a career-high five, lost his no-hit bid when Joey Gallo opened the sixth with a double. However, the right-hander struck out Giancarlo Stanton before retiring Rougned Odor and Gary Sanchez to end his outing.

Lopez struck out four and threw 106 pitches, 58 of them strikes.

Cedric Mullins and Austin Hays hit back-to-back homers with two outs in the third. Ryan Mountcastle and Ramon Urias homered in a span of three batters in the fourth as the Orioles built a 4-0 lead.

Heaney allowed four runs on six hits in four innings and heard boos in his Yankees debut after being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. He tied a career high by allowing the four homers, and both instances were against the Orioles.

Anthony Rizzo drove in the lone run for New York with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, but Lopez escaped the inning by whiffing Aaron Judge.

Heaney allowed one hit during the first time through the order, but Mullins made it 1-0 when he hit a full count fastball into the right field seats. Three pitches later, Hays blasted a 1-1 fastball into the left field seats.

Mountcastle opened the fourth by hitting a curveball into the left field seats, and Urias slugged a 1-1 changeup into the visiting bullpen beyond the left-center-field fence.

Sacrifice flies by Pedro Severino and Maikel Franco gave the Orioles a 6-1 lead in the sixth, and a double-play grounder by Anthony Santander made it 7-1 in the eighth.

Cesar Valdez allowed the first two Yankees to reach in the seventh before getting DJ LeMahieu to bounce into a double play. Paul Fry ended the seventh by fanning Rizzo and also pitched a scoreless eighth after the delay when a cat ran around the field.

After the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that right-hander Gerrit Cole tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss his scheduled start Tuesday. Boone said no other players have tested positive for the virus, and that Cole would be replaced by left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. (0-0, 1.93 ERA).
