Tucker Barnhart homered twice as the Cincinnati Reds matched a season high with five home runs in an 8-4 home victory to sweep a brief two-game set from the struggling Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

Eugenio Suarez clubbed his 30th home run, and rookie Aristides Aquino and Jose Iglesias also went deep for Cincinnati, which has won three in a row and eight of 11. It's the fourth time in 2019 that the Reds have homered five times.

It was the first multi-homer game for the veteran catcher Barnhart, who has eight on the season. Aquino, meanwhile, highlighted the Reds' second three-run inning of the game when he homered in the fourth - his second in six contests since being called up from Triple-A Louisville last week.

The right fielder also made a back-handed running catch to thwart a bases-loaded Angels' threat in the eighth.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, matched a season-worst sixth straight defeats. Losers of 10 of their 12, the Angels are 0-5 on a nine-game trip that continues in Boston on Thursday.

The Angels jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after one inning thanks to Justin Upton's three-run homer off Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani (7-6), who got the win while yielding four runs over 5 1/3 innings.

Cincinnati didn't need long to tie the game in the bottom of the first. Suarez hit a solo shot and Iglesias followed with a two-run homer off Los Angeles' Jose Suarez (2-3).

Aquino gave the Reds a 4-3 lead in the fourth with an estimated 448-foot home run off Jose Suarez, who gave up six runs and 10 hits over five innings. DeSclafani helped his own cause with an RBI single up the middle, and Nick Senzel plated another run with a bloop hit.

Angels star Mike Trout went deep to left-center field in the fifth for his American League-leading 38th home run of the season to make it 6-4. It was Trout's second homer in as many nights, and fourth in six games.

Barnhart, however, pushed Cincinnati's lead to 7-4 with a solo homer off reliever Justin Anderson in the sixth. He added his second solo shot in the bottom of the eighth.

The game also featured a rain delay of nearly an hour in the top of the eighth.
