Yuli Gurriel had two home runs among his three hits, Jose Altuve went 4-for-5, and the Houston Astros rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 9-8 on Tuesday night in Denver.

Gurriel drove in four runs, and George Springer added three hits and three runs for the Astros.

Houston starter Jose Urquidy allowed two runs and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings during his major league debut. Will Harris (3-1) got the win despite allowing one run in one inning, and Roberto Osuna pitched a scoreless ninth for his 18th save.

Ian Desmond, David Dahl and Ryan McMahon had three hits each for the Rockies.

Houston trailed by three entering the seventh inning but rallied to take the lead. Springer, Altuve and Alex Bregman began the uprising with doubles off reliever Bryan Shaw to make it 8-7. Jake McGee (0-1) came on and got one out before Gurriel hit his second homer of the night to make it 9-8.

It was Gurriel's 10th long ball of the season.

The Astros took the early lead when Springer led off the game with a single, moved to third on German Marquez's errant pickoff attempt and scored on a Bregman sacrifice fly.

Colorado tied it in the bottom of the first on Nolan Arenado's RBI double. After Gurriel's homer leading off the second made it 2-1, the Rockies tied it again when Desmond scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second.

Houston went back in front in the third inning. Springer and Altuve hit singles, and both scored on Michael Brantley's double. Gurriel followed with another double to make it 5-2.

The Rockies took the lead against reliever Josh James in the fifth. Trevor Story, activated from the 10-day injured list before the game, and Dahl singled. Arenado walked to load the bases, and Daniel Murphy walked to score the first run. Desmond drove in two more with a double down the right field line.

McMahon's groundout put Colorado ahead, and Desmond scored the fifth run of the inning when he dashed home when Tony Wolters' groundout led to a throwing error by Altuve.

The Rockies loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning off Harris, but Colorado scored just one run, on Arenado's infield single.
