Robinson Chirinos, Jake Marisnick and Alex Bregman hit two-run homers, and the visiting Houston Astros extended their winning streak to six games with an 8-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Chirinos and Marisnick reached base three times and scored two runs apiece. Bregman's homer was his third in two games. George Springer, who had five hits against the Texas Rangers on Sunday, supplied two hits and an RBI on Monday.

Houston's Aledmys Diaz added a solo homer among two hits. Diaz started at second base in place of injured Jose Altuve, who is on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring strain.

Brad Peacock (4-2) allowed one run on three hits in five innings to pick up the win. He walked four and struck out three.

Detroit starter Matthew Boyd (4-3) gave up three runs on five hits in four innings. He fanned two and walked two. Ronny Rodriguez and Josh Harrison had two hits apiece in the opener of a three-game series.

Springer robbed Niko Goodrum of a homer with a leaping catch in right field during the first inning.

After Boyd retired the first five batters he faced, the Astros scored three two-out runs. Diaz pulled a fastball over the left field wall for the first run. Following a Tyler White walk, Chirinos drilled an outside pitch over the right field fence.

Detroit had runners on first and third with one out in the bottom of the inning, but Peacock got Grayson Greiner to pop out on the first pitch, then struck out JaCoby Jones on three pitches.

The Astros had a similar threat going with one out in the third. Boyd responded by getting Yuli Gurriel to pop out and Diaz to ground out.

The Tigers got on the board in the fourth. Jeimer Candelario singled with one out and advanced to third on Harrison's double. Greiner's sacrifice fly to deep left knocked in Candelario.

Marisnick's homer made it 5-1 in the seventh. Chirinos walked with one out against Victor Alcantara, and Marisnick then crushed a changeup over the left-center-field wall.

Springer's RBI single in the ninth off Reed Garrett preceded Bregman's 13th homer of the season.
