Victor Martinez hit a game-tying home run with one out in the top of the ninth, and Niko Goodrum followed with a tiebreaking homer three pitches later as the Detroit Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak by rallying for an 8-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.

On a night when Giancarlo Stanton hit his 300th homer, the Tigers tied the game at 7-7 when Martinez hit his second homer of the contest on a 2-2 fastball that he sent down the right field line.

Shortly after Martinez completed his 12th career multi-homer game, Goodrum drove a 1-1 curveball into the right field seats for his 14th homer.

The Yankees took a 7-5 lead into the ninth on Luke Voit's two-run homer in the seventh off Victor Alcantara. Voit's homer occurred four innings after Stanton reached his milestone in when he drove Francisco Liriano's 3-1 changeup into the right-center-field seats.

Prior to tying the game, Martinez hit a two-run homer in the fifth off J.A. Happ. Happ also allowed a leadoff homer to Jeimer Candelario and a two-run drive to Ronny Rodriguez in the fourth.

Detroit hit a season-high five homers and won for only the seventh time in 25 games. The Tigers also won for the second time in their last 13 road games.

After Alcantara allowed Voit's homer, Alex Wilson (2-4) pitched a scoreless eighth. Former Yankee Shane Greene tossed a perfect ninth inning for his 28th save.

Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer while Miguel Andujar added an RBI infield single as the Yankees lost for the third time in four games and fell to 69-2 when leading after eight.

Happ endured his worst outing since being acquired from Toronto last month, allowing five runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings. He tied a career high by allowing three homers for the eighth time.

Liriano allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He is winless in his last 17 appearances since April 28.
