Rookie Dylan Crews hit his first major league home run Wednesday as the Washington Nationals beat the visiting New York Yankees 5-2.
James Wood, Jacob Young and Nasim Nunez each added two hits for Washington, which took two of three games from New York. The Nationals stole five bases, including three by Wood.
Crews, who hit a solo homer in the first and added an RBI double in the fourth, is batting 4-for-11 (.364) in his first three games since being called up on Monday.
Washington starter MacKenzie Gore (8-11) went six innings, giving up two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six.
Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth for his 34th save after allowing the first two Yankees to reach base.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered, while Aaron Judge had an RBI single and walked twice for New York. The slugging trio of Judge, Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton finished the series a combined 4-for-34 (.118).
Carlos Rodon (14-9) was tagged for five runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. The left-hander walked two and fanned eight.
Crews, batting leadoff for the first time with Washington, homered to left-center on a 1-0 pitch in the first. Later in the inning, Wood singled, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Rodon balk to make it 2-0.
The Yankees got a run back when Chisholm homered with two outs in the second before the Nationals added a pair in the bottom of the frame.
Young singled, stole second and scored on a single by Nunez, who advanced to second and later swiped third. Nunez scored on Wood's two-out single, which put Washington up 4-1.
Crews plated Young with a two-out double in the fourth. Nunez was thrown out at home on the play.
The Yankees pulled within 5-2 in the fifth when Alex Verdugo scored on Judge's two-out single.
The Nationals failed to tack on in the eighth inning after running into two outs on Jose Tena's single with two on.
