White Sox 3, Indians 2:
Jose Abreu went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Hector Noesi outdueled Corey Kluber as Chicago evened the series with visiting Cleveland at one win apiece.

Adam Eaton doubled, tripled and scored twice while Adam Dunn added an RBI for the White Sox, who snapped a season-high seven-game slide. Noesi (8-9) allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings and Javy Guerra got the next five outs before Zach Putnam came in with two on in the ninth and retired the only batter he faced for his fourth save.

Kluber (13-8) struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings but was charged with three runs and nine hits in suffering his second straight loss. Lonnie Chisenhall homered and Michael Bourn drove in a run as the Indians fell 6 1/2 games behind first-place Kansas City in the American League Central and remained 4 1/2 in back of Seattle for the second wild-card spot.

Bourn’s RBI single up the middle in the third gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead, but Chicago came right back in the bottom of the frame. Eaton sent a triple into the right-field corner and scored on a single to center by Abreu, who came home all the way from first on Dunn’s double to the center-field wall for a 2-1 lead.

Chisenhall came up with one out in the seventh and wrapped a high 3-2 fastball around the foul pole in right for his first home run since Aug. 4 and first on the road since July 1. The combination of Eaton and Abreu struck again in the bottom of the seventh, when the former reached on a ground-rule double and eventually scored on the latter’s single to center.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The city of Chicago held a parade for the Jackie Robinson West Little League team that finished second in the Little League World Series, weaving past U.S. Cellular field prior to the game. … Abreu has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, including seven straight. … The Indians remain two victories shy of becoming the third AL franchise (New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox) to reach 9,000 wins.
