Reds 4, Phillies 2: Brandon Phillips hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning as host Cincinnati downed Philadelphia to snap a five-game losing streak.

The Reds, who were held to two runs and five hits by Phillies starter Cliff Lee through seven innings, jumped all over Jeremy Horst (0-1) in the eighth. Pinch hitter Derrick Robinson opened with a single, Zack Cozart doubled one batter later and Joey Votto was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Mike Adams relieved Horst, and served up a 1-2 slider that Phillips grounded past second baseman Freddy Galvis.

Bronson Arroyo (2-1) earned the win despite allowing Chase Utley’s pinch-hit, two-run homer in the eighth that knotted the game at 2. Aroldis Chapman relieved Arroyo after he was pulled for Robinson in the eighth and posted his third save in as many chances with a perfect ninth.

Votto scored the game’s first run in the seventh on a curveball that slid under the glove of catcher Erik Kratz and Jay Bruce drew a rare walk from Lee, allowing Todd Frazier to drive home another run with a sacrifice fly. Utley evened the game when he drove Arroyo’s sinker over the center-field wall.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruce’s 10-pitch walk in the seventh was the first one issued by Lee in 170 plate appearances. Lee extended his modern-day record of consecutive starts lasting at least six innings with one walk or fewer to 20. … Reds CF Shin-Soo Choo went 1-for-3 and has reached base in all 13 games - as has Votto. … Cincinnati, which lost all five games during the streak on the road, improved to 5-2 at Great American Ball Park.
