Cardinals 4, Cubs 1: Jake Westbrook threw seven strong innings and Yadier Molina homered to power host St. Louis past Chicago.

Westbrook (3-2) allowed just one unearned run on two hits in his second start back from the disabled list and Trevor Rosenthal and Edward Mujica each pitched a scoreless frame to finish off the two-hitter. Mujica picked up his 21st save in as many chances.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead on Allen Craig's RBI single in the first only to see Chicago tie it with an unearned run on Darwin Barney's sacrifice fly in the second. St. Louis snapped the tie on Molina's two-run blast off Edwin Jackson in the sixth and tacked on a run with Pete Kozma's RBI single later in the inning.

Jackson (3-9) was reached for four runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings, snapping his streak of two straight wins.

Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday each had two hits for the Cardinals, who have claimed two of three going into Thursday's series finale.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Molina went 1-for-4, lowering his major league-best average to .365. He is 10-for-19 against the Cubs this season. … Chicago RF Nate Schierholtz went 0-for-3, snapping his career-long 10-game hitting streak. … Westbrook improved to 6-2 in 10 starts against the Cubs.
