Angels 6, Rangers 1: Jered Weaver continued his home domination of Texas and Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick had two RBIs apiece as Los Angeles won the opener of the three-game series.

Mark Trumbo and Mike Trout added solo homers as the Angels defeated the Rangers at Angel Stadium for the 10th consecutive time.

Weaver (12-1) allowed one run and six hits in seven innings to improve to 8-0 at home against the Rangers. He struck out four while winning his seventh straight decision and lowering his ERA to 2.20. A first-inning homer by Elvis Andrus represented the lone blemish.

Kendrick had a run-scoring double in the first and his fielder’s choice in the fourth drove in Albert Pujols with the go-ahead run. Aybar hit a two-run double later in the inning to give Los Angeles a 4-1 advantage.

Trumbo homered in the sixth – his 27th of the season – and Trout ended Texas starter Derek Holland's night with his 15th homer with two out in the seventh. That gave Trout at least one run scored in 12 straight games, one shy of the club record set by Jim Edmonds in 1995.

Holland (6-5) gave up six runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Weaver is 7-0 with a 0.67 ERA in eight home starts this season. … Rangers C Mike Napoli had three hits and is 11-for-22 against his former teammates this season. … The Angels are expected to activate RHP Dan Haren (back) form the disabled list to start Sunday’s series finale. … Texas INF Michael Young went hitless in four at-bats, ending a six-game hitting streak in which he was 10-for-25.
