Angels 11, Royals 6: Torii Hunter collected four hits - including a solo homer on the heels of rookie Mike Trout's two-run shot in the eighth inning - and Jered Weaver continued his home dominance as Los Angeles won the rubber match of the series.

Bobby Wilson homered to lead off the fourth inning and Alberto Callaspo and Maicer Izturis added RBI doubles for the Angels, who banged out 17 hits without Albert Pujols in the lineup. The veteran slugger, who was hit by a pitch in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Royals, is listed as day-to-day after X-rays on his ailing elbow came back negative.

Los Angeles didn't miss a beat without Pujols, capitalizing on a pair of second-inning errors before Hunter's two-run double extended its lead to 5-0.

Trout rebounded after watching his 12-game hitting streak come to an end Tuesday. The rookie went 2-for-4 with three runs scored as the Angels handed reeling Kansas City its 17th loss in 23 games - including 10 of 13 on the road.

Weaver (13-1) improved to 8-0 at home and won his seventh consecutive start since returning from the disabled list June 20. The ace breezed through the first four innings before yielding Billy Butler's two-run homer in the fifth. Weaver exited after the inning, finishing with three hits allowed and striking out eight.

Kansas City's Luke Hochevar (6-9) permitted eight runs on nine hits in three innings. He was ejected after hitting Trout in the wake of Lorenzo Cain being plunked by Weaver on two occasions.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jeff Francoeur trimmed Kansas City's deficit to three at 8-5 following his three-run homer in the eighth, but the Royals couldn't complete the comeback. ... The Angels will enjoy a day off before beginning a three-game set against visiting Tampa Bay on Friday. ... The Royals will travel to the Pacific Northwest for a four-game series with host Seattle.
