Dodgers 5, Marlins 2: Hanley Ramirez had three hits and two RBIs in his return to Miami, and Clayton Kershaw struck out seven to win his third straight start as Los Angeles took the opener of a three-game series.
Juan Rivera added a two-run homer in the four-run sixth inning for the Dodgers, who denied Marlins starter Mark Buehrle in his bid for a 12th consecutive season with double-digit wins.
Kershaw (10-6) retired 14 straight after Justin Ruggiano's first-inning homer and allowed two runs on three hits before leaving with one out in the seventh. The Marlins loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh before Ronald Belisario worked out of the jam. Belisario also pitched a scoreless eighth before Kenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth for his 23rd save.
After five scoreless innings, Buehrle (9-11) fell apart in the sixth, giving up four hits in the inning, including Matt Kemp's RBI double, Ramirez's RBI single and Rivera's two-run blast to left. Buehrle has lost three straight decisions and has failed in five attempts to pick up his 10th win.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ruggiano is the first player to homer off Kershaw in 50 innings. Kershaw had not allowed a home run since June 26. … Ramirez has 14 RBIs in 15 games with the Dodgers. He had 48 RBIs in 93 games with Miami. … Kershaw has struck out seven or more in 10 of his last 12 starts. He has 88 strikeouts over 81 1/3 innings over that stretch. … Marlins 1B Carlos Lee went 0-for-3 to snap his hitting streak at 14 games.
