Diamondbacks 5, Marlins 0: Joe Saunders allowed just three hits while tossing his third career shutout as visiting Arizona handed Miami its sixth straight loss.

Jason Kubel went 4-for-4, Miguel Montero had three RBIs and Aaron Hill homered as the Diamondbacks won for only the third time in 10 games.

The Marlins have scored just six runs during their skid and struggled against the left-handed Saunders, who has allowed just three earned runs in four starts.

Saunders (2-1) struck out four and walked two. He allowed three singles – one in the third inning to Gaby Sanchez, one in the fifth to Omar Infante and an infield hit with two outs in the ninth to Emilio Bonifacio. The Diamondbacks turned three double plays while winning the opener of a four-game series.

Montero had a run-scoring single in the first and Saunders hit a sacrifice fly in the second to give the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead.

Hill had three hits and led off the sixth with a homer off Carlos Zambrano (0-2). Montero laced a two-run double to left-center field in the ninth. Lyle Overbay also had three hits for Arizona, which had 15 overall.

Zambrano gave up three runs and 10 hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked two.
