Rays 9, Blue Jays 4: Evan Longoria recorded four RBIs as visiting Tampa Bay won the rubber game from Toronto.

Longoria, whose three errors cost the Rays in Game 1, went 3 for 4, opening the scoring with a RBI single in the first and providing insurance with a two-run home run in the fifth.

The Rays took a 3-1 lead in the second, scoring on Sean Rodriguez’s single to shallow right, then cashing in on a play at the plate when catcher J.P. Arencibia couldn’t wrangle the throw from the outfield.

Two home runs – a solo shot from Desmond Jennings and Longoria’s blast to center – shot Tampa Bay back into the lead in the top of the fifth.

Longoria added another RBI with a double in the ninth, then came around to score on Luke Scott’s two-run double.

Jeremy Hellickson (2-0) lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out four batters.

The Blue Jays have lost nine of their last 12 meetings with the Rays and served up seven home runs during this three-game set. Toronto has given up 17 homers on the year.

The Blue Jays tied the score 1-1 on Lind’s RBI double in the first and would knot the score again in the fourth. Kelly Johnson knocked a RBI double to right, then came around to beat the play at the plate after a throwing error from Rodriguez.

Henderson Alvarez (0-1) gave up six runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings, striking out four while walking two batters.
