C.J. Wilson struck out 11 in his second straight scoreless start and Adrian Beltre went deep twice to surpass the 300-homer plateau for his career as the Texas Rangers blasted the visiting Oakland Athletics, 8-1, on Sunday.

Ian Kinsler recorded three hits for his fourth straight multi-hit game and Chris Gentry added three hits for the Rangers, who clinched the series win. Texas briefly pushed its lead in the American League West to two games over the Los Angeles Angels, who started later Sunday.

Wilson (16-5) has allowed two earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts to push his ERA down to 3.01. The Rangers’ ace pitched his first career shutout earlier in the week but was removed after eight innings and 111 pitches on Sunday.

Josh Outman (3-5) matched Wilson through the first four innings but came apart in the fifth. Gentry led off with a single and Kinsler followed with an RBI single. Josh Hamilton plated a run with a sacrifice fly and Beltre capped the rally by belting his 300th career home run to deep left.

Beltre hit his 301st leading off the seventh to spark another three-run burst. He finished with four hits.

A’s rookie Eric Sogard hit his second career home run in the ninth off Koji Uehara to avoid the shutout.
