Brian Bogusevic hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Houston Astros defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-5 on Tuesday.

J.B. Shuck began the ninth with a one-out base hit against Chicago closer Carlos Marmol (2-4), who allowed a single to Clint Barmes and walked Matt Downs to load the bases. Marmol got a pair of quick strikes against Bogusevic, who fouled off one pitch and took a pair of balls before driving the final pitch of the game over the wall in left-center field.

Aneury Rodriguez (1-4) retired the final two hitters in the top of the ninth.

Aramis Ramirez homered and had two RBIs and Tyler Colvin hit a two-run homer for the Cubs, who had won 12 of their previous 15 games.

Chicago's Ryan Dempster allowed two runs, four hits and struck out seven in seven innings. Houston's Brett Myers gave up four runs, six hits and struck out five in seven innings.

Jimmy Paredes had two doubles and drove in a run for the Astros.
