Ike Davis lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the 14th inning, helping the New York Mets to a marathon 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

Jose Reyes collected four hits and stole two bases for the Mets, who lost third baseman David Wright to an undisclosed injury in the 12th.

After failing to cash in with the bases loaded in the 10th, Davis got another opportunity and came through, plating Reyes from third with a fly ball to deep right off Gustavo Chacin (1-2).

Elmer Dessens (3-1) worked a scoreless 13th and Manny Acosta tossed a perfect 14th for his first save since 2008 with Atlanta.

R.A. Dickey, who came within two outs of his second consecutive complete-game victory, also performed at the plate for the Mets, following Ruben Tejada's one-out double in the seventh with a two-base hit of his own to drive in the game's first run. After Reyes singled, Dickey scored on Angel Pagan's grounder to make it 2-0.

Houston halved the deficit in the eighth when Humberto Quintero and pinch-hitter Jason Michaels began the frame with singles. Following a sacrifice by Michael Bourn, Angel Sanchez plated pinch-runner Jason Castro with a single, spoiling Dickey's bid for a second straight shutout.

Dickey kept the Mets in front by striking out Hunter Pence and inducing a groundout by Carlos Lee. But with one out in the ninth, Geoff Blum deposited a 1-0 knuckleball deep into the right-field seats for his first home run since September 16, tying the game at 2-2.
