Jason Michaels hit a two-run home run and Lance Berkman drove in a pair of runs in his season debut in the Houston Astros’ 7-5 victory over the Florida Marlins on Tuesday.
The Astros scored three runs in the eighth inning to capture their first home win of the season.
Kaz Matsui hit a sacrifice fly and Michaels added his two-run shot as the Astros broke a tie game to make it 7-4 heading to the ninth.
Brandon Lyon (1-1) earned the win with an inning in relief of starter Brett Myers. Matt Lindstrom worked the ninth for his third save.
Jorge Cantu homered and drove in two runs to extend his hitting streak to 18 games and Wes Helms added an RBI for the Marlins.
Tim Wood (0-1) was charged with four runs on four hits in two innings of relief in the losing effort.
