Tommy Manzella’s two-run single in the sixth inning gave Houston the go-ahead run as the Astros earned a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon.
Manzella had three RBIs and Humberto Quintero had a homer and an RBI double among his three hits for Houston, which won three in a row to take the four-game series.
Houston starter Roy Oswalt (4-8) pitched seven solid innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out nine. Brandon Lyon earned his first save of the season with a perfect ninth.
In the sixth, Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence walked and Quintero singled before Manzella drove in Lee and Pence for a 5-2 lead.
Colorado pulled to 5-4 in the eighth on Troy Tulowitzki’s RBI single and Miguel Olivo’s RBI ground out, but pinch-hitter Jason Giambi struck out with runners on second and third.
Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin (3-5) allowed five runs – four earned – on four hits. He had eight strikeouts and three walks.
