Carlos Lee’s grand slam with two out in the 10th inning gave the Houston Astros a 6-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.
Lee’s 15th career grand slam to left off Matt Belisle (1-3) came after the Rockies loaded the bases by intentionally walking Lance Berkman. Tommy Manzella and Michael Bourn had reached on singles.
The blast made a winner of Brandon Lyon (5-1), who earned the victory by pitching the ninth.
Houston starter Felipe Paulino, who began the season 0-7, pitched his third consecutive game of eight innings, allowing eight hits, two runs and striking out seven in a no-decision.
The Astros took a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Bourn had an RBI single, scoring Humberto Quintero, and Manzella scored on Jeff Keppinger’s double-play ground out.
An RBI double in the sixth by Brad Hawpe, who had three hits, tied it at 2-2.
Colorado starter Aaron Cook pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
